Is the tap water safe to drink in Andorra?

Yes, for the most part. According to WHO and UNICEF, every home in Andorra has piped water whenever it's needed, and 90.6% of people had safely managed drinking water in 2024. The remaining share fell short on the contamination standard; supply itself was never the issue.

Why a public tap can still be different

On hiking trails and in the villages you'll come across springs and troughs as well as taps. Spring water is untreated however clear it looks, and a trough may be meant for animals. The signs are in Catalan: aigua potable is drinking water, and aigua no potable means don't drink it.

Check the tap, then tell the next person

Stick to fountains marked aigua potable and check the flow before you fill your bottle. If a fountain is reliable, put it on Fontavio or leave a review saying whether it was running, so walkers can plan their day in the valleys.
