Finding water and a dump station before you need one

Fresh water in, waste water out, and the showers and laundry in between, mapped across Europe, US and Canada.

  • Fill-up taps
  • Grey water dumps
  • Chemical toilet disposal
  • Showers
  • Laundry
A place sheet for a fill-up tap, showing it is open 24/7, paid and wheelchair accessible.

Drive thirty kilometres out of your way to a service point and find it closed for the season, and you learn fast that van travel runs on a cycle: find water, use it, find somewhere to empty it.

Fontavio maps fill-up points, grey water and chemical toilet disposal, plus the toilets, showers and laundries that make a long trip livable. Places carry the details that matter for a van: whether you can drive over the drain, whether there is a hose connection, whether it costs anything.

It is not a parking app. It is meant to be used alongside parking apps such as Park4night, and covers the water and waste services next to them.

Pro adds a route planner: select the water and dump stops you want and open them in navigation as one trip.

The things that matter

01 PRO

Water along your route

Pick the water stops and facilities you want along the way, then open the lot in Google Maps as one trip. For offline route planning, download also Google Maps from that area.

02 PRO

Offline maps

Pick an area on the map and download it. The base map, the places and their details all come with it, opening hours and reviews included, so everything keeps working with no signal at all. Photos are the one thing left out, to keep the download small. Built for valleys, borders and prepaid data.

03

Filters that match the situation

Narrow by category, free or paid, open now, saved, and how you travel. All filters are free for everyone.

04

On foot, by car, or by boat

Tell the app how you travel and it stops showing places you cannot reach, while keeping the ones that serve more than one kind of traveller, like marinas that also take campervans.

Look up a city before you go

Search any city and the map jumps there. These pages show samples of the available data and statistics for cities.

Vanlife: common questions

Does it show whether I can drive over the drain?
Where a contributor has recorded it, yes. Dump stations can carry drive-over, cassette rinse and chemical-allowed details.
Can I see water stops along my route rather than near me?
Yes. Anyone can look at any place on the map. With Pro you can select several stops and open them together in navigation as one trip.
Is it another parking app?
No. Fontavio does not map overnight parking at all. It covers water, waste, toilets, showers and laundry, and it is designed to be used alongside whatever you already use for parking.
Are the service points open in winter?
A seasonal one carries its dates where somebody recorded them, and the app shows it closed outside that season.
What is the difference between a fill-up tap and drinking water?
They are separate categories. A fill-up tap is for filling a tank and usually has a hose point; drinking water is meant to be drunk from directly. Raw water is a third category for water that is not documented as safe to drink, kept apart so it cannot be mistaken for either.
