Is the tap water safe to drink in Liechtenstein?

Yes. Liechtenstein's tap water comes from mountain springs and groundwater, and WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water at 100% for 2024.

100%
of people in Liechtenstein had safely managed drinking water at home in 2024 WHO/UNICEF: from a protected source, at home, available when needed and free from contamination.

Why a public tap can still be different

Springs and troughs along mountain paths aren't part of the public supply, even when the water comes from the same hills, and Alpine troughs are often for livestock. Drink from taps and fountains marked Trinkwasser.

Check the tap, then tell the next person

Look for the Trinkwasser sign and check the spout. When you find a good fountain on a hike, add it to Fontavio or review it, and say where on the route it is.
