Is the tap water safe to drink in Luxembourg?
Yes. WHO and UNICEF put the share of people in Luxembourg with safely managed drinking water at home at 99.7% in 2024.

WHO/UNICEF: from a protected source, at home, available when needed and free from contamination.
What the official figures say
Half of Luxembourg's drinking water comes from around 300 springs and boreholes. The other half comes from the Lac de la Haute-Sûre, where the SEBES treatment works can produce 110,000 cubic metres a day.
Why a public tap can still be different
A village fountain may run on a local spring instead of the public supply, and any public tap is only as good as its pipes and upkeep.
Check the tap, then tell the next person
Look for a sign on the fountain and give it a moment to run. When you find a good tap, put it on Fontavio or review it for the next cyclist or walker crossing the country.
