Is the tap water safe to drink in Monaco?

Yes. WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water in Monaco at 100% for 2024, and the Société Monégasque des Eaux runs around 5,500 analyses a year on about 60 measures.

100%
of people in Monaco had safely managed drinking water at home in 2024 WHO/UNICEF: from a protected source, at home, available when needed and free from contamination.

What the official figures say

Monaco's own springs cover between 20% and 50% of what the principality drinks in a year. The rest is bought in from its neighbours: the Vésubie canal, wells in the Var plain and the Roya river.

Why a public tap can still be different

Taps at harbour berths and decorative fountains aren't drinking fountains, and how clean a public tap is depends on how it's kept.

Check the tap, then tell the next person

Stick to taps marked for drinking, and give the spout a look first. When you find one, add it to Fontavio or review it for visitors making the climb up from the port.
