Water services in Montréal
Fontavio maps public drinking water, fill-up taps, toilets, showers, laundry, dump stations and marine pump-outs in Montréal, from open map data and from the people using them.
Add a place we are missingDoes this page cover all of Montréal?
It covers every category Fontavio has enough mapped places for in Montréal today. A category appears here once enough places in it have been added and confirmed, so a missing one means thin coverage rather than nothing on the ground.
What if a place has moved or is gone?
Report it from the app. A person reviews it, and water-safety reports are looked at first.
Is the tap water safe to drink in Canada?
Yes, in cities and towns. WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water in Canada at 96.9% for 2024. Figures, sources and the dates they were checked: https://fontavio.com/canada/tap-water/
Is the water from a public tap or fountain the same as the tap water in Canada?
Not necessarily. A tap at a provincial park, a lake campsite or a trailhead may be on a well or a small system with advisories of its own, so read the sign next to it. Check for advisories and look at the tap before you drink. When you find a good one on your route, add it to Fontavio or review it; in the backcountry, that kind of information is hard to come by.
