Add a place we are missing
Does this page cover all of Reykjavík?

It covers every category Fontavio has enough mapped places for in Reykjavík today. A category appears here once enough places in it have been added and confirmed, so a missing one means thin coverage rather than nothing on the ground.

What if a place has moved or is gone?

Report it from the app. A person reviews it, and water-safety reports are looked at first.

Is the tap water safe to drink in Iceland?

Yes, from the cold tap. WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water in Iceland at 100% for 2024, and in the capital area the cold tap water is spring water from protected catchments. Figures, sources and the dates they were checked: https://fontavio.com/iceland/tap-water/

Is the water from a public tap or fountain the same as the tap water in Iceland?

Not necessarily. Outside the towns you'll pass rivers, streams and springs. Glacial rivers carry silt, and streams near grazing land can be contaminated even when the water looks perfectly clear. Use the taps at campsites, trailheads and service stations, and check the spout first. When you find one, add it to Fontavio or review it; it helps people plan their refills before a long drive.
