Water services in Kilkenny
Fontavio maps public drinking water, fill-up taps, toilets, showers, laundry, dump stations and marine pump-outs in Kilkenny, from open map data and from the people using them.
Add a place we are missingDoes this page cover all of Kilkenny?
It covers every category Fontavio has enough mapped places for in Kilkenny today. A category appears here once enough places in it have been added and confirmed, so a missing one means thin coverage rather than nothing on the ground.
What if a place has moved or is gone?
Report it from the app. A person reviews it, and water-safety reports are looked at first.
Is the tap water safe to drink in Ireland?
Yes, from the public supply. Ireland's Environmental Protection Agency found more than 99.8% of public supply samples compliant in 2024 and says public water is safe to drink. WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water at 96.1% for 2024. Figures, sources and the dates they were checked: https://fontavio.com/ireland/tap-water/
Is the water from a public tap or fountain the same as the tap water in Ireland?
Not necessarily. Where a boil water notice is in place, tap water isn't safe to drink until it has been boiled. In the countryside, homes and taps may be on group water schemes or private wells rather than the public supply. Check whether there's a boil water notice locally, then look at the tap and let it run. When you find a good one, add it to Fontavio or review it, and update it if a notice goes up or comes down.
