Water services in Tromsø
Fontavio maps public drinking water, fill-up taps, toilets, showers, laundry, dump stations and marine pump-outs in Tromsø, from open map data and from the people using them.
Add a place we are missingDoes this page cover all of Tromsø?
It covers every category Fontavio has enough mapped places for in Tromsø today. A category appears here once enough places in it have been added and confirmed, so a missing one means thin coverage rather than nothing on the ground.
What if a place has moved or is gone?
Report it from the app. A person reviews it, and water-safety reports are looked at first.
Is the tap water safe to drink in Norway?
Yes. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority says about 99.7% of the population gets drinking water of satisfactory hygienic quality, and WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water at 99.1% for 2024. Figures, sources and the dates they were checked: https://fontavio.com/norway/tap-water/
Is the water from a public tap or fountain the same as the tap water in Norway?
Not necessarily. Old pipes can affect the water from a public tap. In the mountains and along the fjords, streams and waterfalls are untreated, however clear they look. Check the tap and let the water run before drinking. When you find a good one on a hiking route, at a ferry quay or at a campsite, add it to Fontavio or review it.
