Water services in Lausanne
Fontavio maps public drinking water, fill-up taps, toilets, showers, laundry, dump stations and marine pump-outs in Lausanne, from open map data and from the people using them.
Add a place we are missingDoes this page cover all of Lausanne?
It covers every category Fontavio has enough mapped places for in Lausanne today. A category appears here once enough places in it have been added and confirmed, so a missing one means thin coverage rather than nothing on the ground.
What if a place has moved or is gone?
Report it from the app. A person reviews it, and water-safety reports are looked at first.
Is the tap water safe to drink in Switzerland?
Yes. More than 80% of Swiss drinking water comes from groundwater, according to the federal environment office, and WHO and UNICEF put safely managed drinking water at 96.7% for 2024. Figures, sources and the dates they were checked: https://fontavio.com/switzerland/tap-water/
Is the water from a public tap or fountain the same as the tap water in Switzerland?
Not necessarily. Out of town, check the fountain for a sign: kein Trinkwasser, eau non potable and acqua non potabile all mean the water isn't safe to drink. Alpine troughs are often for livestock, and springs on mountain paths are untested. Check the sign and the spout before you drink. When you add or review a fountain on Fontavio, mention whether it runs in winter; that's useful for anyone visiting outside the summer.
